SMR MBN2247 - Stanton Wick Glassworks



First reference to Chelwood Glasshouse in 1658. Documents from then until 1815 when 20 families were moved to Nailsea. Sometimes called Chelwood sometimes Stanton Drew and Stanton Wick, see SMR Box file{1}1842 Tithe map of Stanton Drew shows glass cone on field known as Sandground.{2}1815 A glasshouse containing pot rooms, stone stabling etc. + 13 cottages.{3} Now site marked by Glasshouse farm and Sandground cottage. {4}"Glasshouse" {5}.
