Post mortem photograph of John Gadd (1829-1879)
Said to have refused to be photographed while alive, this photograph shows his body propped, presumably, with bedding made by the family business. There are no obvious signs of the injuries inflicted by Richard BATT which killed him, except perhaps bruising around his left eye.
