Witney Town Band 1850

Edward Flexney (b.1825) was a professional trumpeter in 1881. Band-playing in Witney was encouraged by blanket factory owners such as William Early, whose band was in existence by the 1840s. The Witney Temperance Band was founded in about 1850 "for society purposes and religious festivals".
