  Notes	Birth confused by a persistent rumour that he was smuggled to his Mother's bed in a warming pan; she having suffered a series of infant deaths. After his Father's abdication, he was conveyed by his fugitive Mother to St Germain. The 'Chevalier de St George' and Jacobite "James XIII and III" made a fruitless attempt to return to Scotland in 1708. In the Earl of Mar's ill-conducted revolution, he landed at Peterhead in Dec 1715. After 6 weeks he fled; France being closed to him, to Rome. {Chamber's Biographical Dictionary}
