- In the name of God, Amen, I Sarah Greenhill of London, widow, being of sound mind and understanding praised be Almighty God for the same, do make and ordain this to be my last Will and Testament in manner and form following, that is to say;
First I commend my soul into the hands of Almighty God my creator, hoping though the merits of my Redeemer Jesus Christ to inherit everlasting life, and my body I commit to the earth to be decently interred in the parish where I shall happen to die;
And as to my Goods, Chattels and Estate of what nature or kind soever, I give and bequeath the same and every part thereof (after the payment of my just debts and funeral expenses) unto my cousin George Jarvis Tapps of King's Langley in the County of Hertford, Esquire, his executors, administrators and assigns, to his and their own proper use;
And I hereby constitute and appoint the said George Jarvis Tapps sole executor of this my Will, hereby revoking all former wills by me at any time made, ad declare this alone to be my last Will and Testament;
In witness whereof I the said Sarah Greenhill have hereunto set my hand and seal this sixth day of October in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and forty four [Sarah Greenhill]. Signed, sealed and published by me the above named Sarah Greenhill as and for her last Will and Testament in the presence of Richard Haynes Plomer at the Stationers in Clifford's Inn, G. Edmonds of Clifford's Inn.
This Will was proved at London the eleventh day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and seventy before the Worshipful George Harris Doctor of Laws, Surrogate of the Right Worshipful George Hay also Doctor of Laws Master Keeper or Commissary of the Prerogative Court of Canterbury lawfully constituted by the oath of George Jarvis Tapps the sole executor named in the said Will to whom administration was granted of all and singular the goods, chattels and credits of the deceased, he having been first sworn duly to administer.
