- "CRICKET CLUB DANCE.?An open-air dance, organised by the Cricket Club Committee, was held on Monday on the lawn at Whitehall, by the kindness of Dr. and Mrs. Boon, and was largely attended. The proceeds were to help to defray the remaining portion of the debt on the new cricket pavilion. Mr. W. J. Garbett undertook the duties of M.C., and the Jackfield Prize Silver Band, under the conductorship of Deputy Bandmaster Jas. Goodall supplied the music. Spot dance prizes, given by Dr. and Mrs. Boon, were awarded to Miss C. M. Hartshorne and Mr. George Roberts, Miss Britland and Mr. J. Price, Mrs. W. Parr and Mr. Walter Watkins, also Miss Taylor and Mr. B. Downes. Refreshments were provided by the club?s ladies? committee." (Wellington Journal & Shrewsbury News, 21 Jun 1930)
