| WILL of John Baker, yeoman, of Wakes Colne 1624 [ERO D/ACW9/131] In the name of God amen. The eighth day of February in the year of the reign of our Sovereign Lord James by the Grace of God of England *** and Ireland King and defender of the faith, the 21st of Scotland *** Anno Domini 1623. I John Baker of Colne Wake in the County of Essex, yeoman, being sick and weak in body but of good and perfect remembrance thanks be unto Almighty God wherefore do make and ordain this my Last Will and Testament in manner and form following. First *** I give and bequeath my soul unto the hands of Almighty God my Creator Redeemer and Sanctifier. And my body to be buried in the churchyard of Colne Wake beforesaid at the discretion of my undernamed Executors. Item: I give and bequeath unto Rose King my daughter in law twenty pounds of lawful money of England to be paid unto her within one year after the decease of Anne my wife. Item: I give unto Anne Clarke the wife of John Clarke my daughter in lawten pounds of like lawful money of England to be paid within two years after the death of Anne my wife. Item: I give unto William Baker of Marks Tey 5 pounds to be paid within three years of the death of Anne my wife. Item: I give unto Richard Baker my brother five pounds of lawful money of England to be paid within five years after the decease of anne my wife. Item: I give and bequeath unto John King of Chappel forty shillings. Item: I give unto Peter Keams of Bures forty shillings. Item: I give unto my brother Thomas Baker and his two sons twenty shillings apiece. Item: I give and bequeath unto Robert King of Wakes Colne twenty shillings. Item: I give and bequeath unto Thomas King of Colne Wake the like sum of twenty shillings. Item: I give and bequeath unto Timothy Abbott my servant ten shillings. Item: I give *** of John King, Peter Keams, Thomas Baker and his two sons, Robert King, Thomas King and Timothy Abbott to be paid all in one year that is in the first year after the death of Anne my wife. All these foresaid sums of money to be paid by Richard Keams my godson dwelling in Tey Magna. Item: I give and bequeath unto Anne my wife and Rose King my daughter all my goods and moveables whatsoever, whom I make my Executrices to this my Last Will and Testament, putting them in trust to bring my body *** to the earth.
