| WILL of Roger Baker, yeoman, of Copford 1613 In the name of God amen *** in the year of our Lord God 1612, I Roger Baker of Copford in the county of Essex, yeoman, and jures[?] of London, yeoman, being sick of body but of good and perfect remembrance thanks be to Almighty God, do make and *** this my *** Testament and Last Will in manner and form following revoking all other Wills heretofore by me made or ***, First and principally[?] I give and bequeath my Soul unto Almighty God my maker, and to Jesus Christ his only son my Redeemer, and to the Holy Ghost my comforter, by whose *** I trust to inherit the Kingdom of Heaven, And my body to the earth from whence it came. Item: I give and bequeath unto Mary my wife my tenement wherein I dwell being lately built with the land and wood thereunto belonging as it is now in my occupation, sometime *** of the *** called Thurgoves holden by the copyhold Roll of the Manor of Copford Hall[?], to have and to hold to her or her assigns during her natural life, and after her decease, I give the said tenement and Lands unto John my sonand to his heirs for ever *** that he *** unto Thomas and Roger my sons 30 pounds of lawful English money, to either of them the sum of fifteen pounds in manner and form following: that is to pay within one year of the decease of Mary my wife I will that he shall pay forty shillings unto Thomas my son, and within two years after her decease I will he shall pay unto Roger my son 40 shillings, and so *** year following *** to begin with Thomas my son first and Roger my *** until the said sums of 30 pounds *** to either of my said sons shall be fully satisfied and paid, this money to be *** and paid in the *** of the parish Church of Copford. And if *** of my sons Thomas and Roger happen to die before they shall receive these my gifts, then I will that the survivor of them shall have the share of his so dying *** shall be so paid, to be paid unto him by 40 shillings year *** before appointed *** the whole sum of 30 pounds be fully satisfied. I will that Mary my wife shall pay unto Elizabeth my daughter, the wife of Thomas Paul[?] yearly during her natural life the sum of 20s[?] to be *** unto her *** either Simon[?] or Wollen[?], all the ***. Item I give unto Elizabeth my daughter [---in fold of book---] to be paid to her within one year after my decease, so as the said Richard Baily (if he be still living) or the said Elizabeth his wife my daughter (if she be ***) do enter into bond with *** and for the payment of 20s[?] yearly unto Mary my wife during the natural life of my said wife. Item I give unto *** of my ****, and to Robert Bygbye my godson *** to be paid unto of him within one year after my decease.
