He writes "Bert Scull was undoubtedly one of the famous characters of Westbury,when I was a lad. Bert was a taxicab proprietor in West End who ran a taxi cab service to the railway station and other local destinations. Bert also had a vehicle which could be changed from a charabanc to a lorry. Bert,an astute business man, was well known for his drainpipe trousers and his association with the local Salvation Army. Bert was assisted by his sons Arthur,Bert and Harry.
