| Notes |
- In 1962, a Bob Hemus, of the USA, wrote to Geraldine and Irene Hemus Auckland, New Zealand, asking about family relationships and whether Benjamin or George Hemus was his great-grandfather. In this letter, he mentioned that his grandfather, Harry Hemus, ran away from home when he was 13, and worked as a cowboy in Arizona. Later he a whip braider and harness maker, and when business fell off repaired shoes. It would seem that this Harry Hemus was probably Benjamin's third son, born 1878.
